SUMMARY:
Primary responsibilities associated with this position include leading a team of five Multimedia (MM) Specialists who share the responsibilities of maintaining multimedia equipment in university classrooms, offices, conference rooms, and public presentation venues. This includes setting up special equipment for faculty or staff, videotaping, and performing general maintenance as required. This position serves as the primary contact for escalated service issues and special projects. The individual in this role will be responsible for managing installations, coordinating with vendors and other university departments to ensure that upgrades and maintenance of classrooms and multimedia systems are carried out accurately and on time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Multimedia Team Lead and Project Manager is responsible for maintaining the university’s multimedia equipment.
Team Lead of the MM Specialist
- Responsible for resolving service issues and working with the five MM Specialist in the field to increase their trouble shooting skills
- Prioritizes service issues
- Develop workflows for incident tickets and service requests on all multimedia related items
- Train MM staff on all procedures, workflows and new technology
- Create Knowledge Base articles for internal and external use
- Work with the TMSS Director on outstanding service issues and installation concerns
- Review incident and service tickets with technicians to assure the team meets service commitments and deadlines
- Coordinates and plans the annual audiovisual maintenance project
Projects
- Work with faculty/staff on their multimedia needs in respective departments, responsible for the design
- Develop the scope of work for vendor project work
- Get approval from the customer
- Review quotes with TMSS director for approval before PO’s are processed
- Prioritize the installations
- Coordinates the electrical and conduit outlets for our mm wiring for new and or renovated classrooms and meeting spaces
- Responsible for working with our facilities department on campus or other outside furniture companies to design and build the mm cabinets to house the A/V equipment, these cabinets can vary for each installation
- Responsible for making sure the mm cabinets are delivered and installed in the proper location
- Coordinates with the vendor to install the mm equipment
- Coordinates with the ACS/HD computer tech to have the computer installed once the cabinet is in place and the mm equipment is installed
- Responsible for working with the ACS/HD computer tech on specialty software needed on the computer to interface with the mm equipment
- Responsible for signing off on all the AV installation
- Work closely with the TMSS Director on service and MM projects
Maintain Multimedia Equipment and Support
- Replace or coordinate the replacement of faulty equipment with the MM Specialist and/or vendors
- Responsible for maintaining adequate replacement inventory
- Compare repair cost to replacing with new equipment
- Responsible for the setup, programming, and support of executive meetings
- Responsible for coordinating the support for service issues, installations and special events
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
This position requires significant physical effort. This person will be required to perform lifting associated with carrying and setting up ladders to perform routine maintenance and the repair of equipment. It requires moving and setup of projectors, large screens, and other multimedia equipment within buildings and across campus.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong technical and troubleshooting abilities
- General knowledge of video conferencing technologies
- Advanced knowledge of audio and video cabling
- Basic knowledge with Microsoft Office products, proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ability to work independently and part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be able to multitask, work on multiple projects with different deadlines
- Must have strong interpersonal and listening skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but will consider equivalent work experience in the field of multimedia / audiovisual equipment support
- 6-8 years of experience designing and supporting multimedia/audiovisual classroom installations
- 4-5 years of experience as a project manager for the multimedia projects
- 2-3 years of experience with Windows based computer
WORK HOURS:
- Full-time, exempt position
- Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 7 (Hiring Range $55,640.00 to $73,736.00 annually)
