Job Description Summary: We are seeking an experienced and passionate Database Administrator to join our company. The DBA will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the enterprise databases at Roadrunner. They will support, troubleshoot databases in all aspects of design, configuration, and implementation, to ensure high availability for business solutions. Candidate must have excellent technical expertise, project, and time management abilities, proven problem resolution skills while also exhibiting curiosity to implement new ideas and solutions. Critical Job Functions: SQL Server on premises Administration Azure Cloud Administration Plans, coordinates, and executes the installation of patches, new releases, and upgrades to Azure Cloud environment for optimal performance and security. Actively monitors the transactional log database restoration process across multiple environments and resolves any issues that arise. Serve as technical resource on a functional basis for the resolution of database problems. Participate in various projects intended to continually improve/upgrade the database environment. Research, and identify any deficiencies or to enhance database performance. Analyze database activity and database problems to discover and prevent systematic errors. Document procedures and keep database diagrams and related materials up to date. Required to work hours other than regular schedule such as nights, weekends and holidays when needed. Provide periodic and accurate feedback on status of assignments. Resolve, or seek resolution to problems, from peers, management, or other Operations personnel. Update and maintain all information and documents relevant to assignments in detail. Maintain a positive work attitude, a high level of communication and cordial relations that foster teamwork. Resolves incidents, service requests and change orders in timely fashion. Maintain 24x7x365 coverage and support for the database environment. Define, plan, and coordinate database projects. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. 4 years of experience implementing, enhancing, or supporting transactional and data warehouse solutions in a Microsoft environment. 4 years of experience implementing and enhancing Azure-based data warehouse solutions. 4 years of experience delivering SQL Server administration for on premises SQL Databases as well as data warehousing and data integration solutions within the Azure Cloud environment. Working knowledge with Microsoft SQL Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012, 2014, 2017, 2019, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS and other technologies. SQL coding skills (T-SQL) – including the ability to write complex SQL queries. Ability to optimize performance of SQL-based queries in the SQL and Azure environment. Proven experience managing CI/CD processes within a cloud data warehouse environment. Strong understanding of database principles and architecture Detail oriented, open, and collaborative work ethic with a well-developed sense of ownership and responsibility Tenacious perseverance in investigating problems and processes. Firm believer in established methodologies and best practices Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills Demonstrated customer service etiquette, active listening, and commitment to excellence. Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple activities to meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to work effectively with carriers, management, various departments, and customers. 5 years of IT Experience preferred. Experience working with Azure Data Lakes, Azure Data Factory, and Azure DevOps preferred. Experience with, and a firm understanding of, cloud computing infrastructures and processing models preferred.
