Purpose: To fulfill EFS’s primary mission of 1-2 day LTL delivery service to our customers. EFS’s success depends on safe, efficient, and conscientious drivers who care about public safety and excellent customer service. Some of the essential job duties include driving to the destination on the best route, communicating with dispatchers, and taking required measures in case of inclement weather, etc. Essential Responsibilities: Maintain customer and public satisfaction while driving a tractor and semi-trailer combination or a straight truck Safely haul hazardous and non-hazardous dry and liquid materials in all weather conditions Complete required paperwork and DOT logs Maintain vehicle in optimal condition for public safety, vehicle longevity, and routine inspections Practice proper loading, unloading and trip management of loads, properly following bills of lading Deliver freight in good condition and on schedule Plan routes; manage unexpected changes Complete shipping papers, hazardous materials documents, daily driver logs and other required documentation, either by hand or using provided electronic equipment Ensure proper cleanliness of interior/exterior of truck at all times Practice safe and defensive driving techniques at all times to the safety of yourself, other motorists, and property Pre and post check the vehicle to ensure safe transportation. Report any malfunctions to supervisors Skills/Qualifications: Must possess a valid Class A or B CDL license Must possess a Hazmat endorsement, or obtain one within 45 days of hire Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspections and maintenance, and extended periods of time Must satisfactorily pass a pre-employment drug screen Must possess good communication, customer service, and judgment skills Experience/Education: Minimum of verifiable 6 months of commercial truck driving experience Minimum age requirements of 21 years old Physical Requirements: Ability to climb into and out of truck cab safely Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the United States’ Department of Transportation (DOT) Ability to lift up to 75 lbs; ability to maneuver a fully loaded pallet jack up to 2500 lbs. Bending, stooping, reaching, manual dexterity to hook up air lines, lights, hoses, and operate valves Ability to sit for long periods of time Work Environment: Frequently exposed to moving vehicles, outside weather conditions, and vibrations.
