We are seeking a Senior Inspector for our Transportation-Construction management (T-CM) Practice in EL Paso, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision of the project engineer/project administrator, monitor the Contractor’s on-site construction activities
- Inspect materials entering the work in accordance with the plans and specifications for the Construction Contract to determine that the project(s) are constructed in reasonable conformity with such documents
- Work independently, regularly exercising advanced judgment in the application of standard methodologies and procedures for complex projects
- Perform highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations
- Read and interpret contract documents (plans and specifications) to determine if the contractor’s work is in substantial compliance
- Maintain detailed accurate records of the contractor’s daily operations and of significant events that affect the work
- Inspect construction work
- Conduct field testing of component materials and completed work in accordance with the Construction Contract documents
- Coordinate, guide and oversee the junior inspectors on the project
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 10 years relevant experience
- Extensive experience in construction inspection including exposure to bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
- Must have supervised two or more inspectors
- Must have been directly responsible for all inspection requirements related to the construction operations assigned
- Must have materials sampling and testing certifications as required by the scope of work of the project, including materials sampling and testing certifications
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally required to sit and stoop.
- Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job.
- Subject to environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
- Able to safely operate a vehicle on the highway and on construction sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Civil Engineering Degree
- Ability to speack fluent spanish
