The Opportunity
RS&H is currently seeking a Senior Architect to join our Buildings team in Norfolk, VA supporting our Federal and Military clients.
RS&H is fortunate to have a wealth of project opportunities through our multiple long-term consulting contracts for Federal clients including GSA, military, and NASA. Our projects range from planning to small renovations to large multi-building projects and include both national and international projects in locations such as Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. This position is intended to be a career-building opportunity as the successful candidate will be asked to grow their architectural skills as part of a multi-disciplined team. Successful candidates would also have career growth opportunities in Project Management, Client management, and business development. RS&H offers specific training in Project Management and Client Management as well as general career growth training and mentorship. While federal and military experience is a plus, we are focused on your architectural skills and teamwork approach in the delivery of challenging projects for a range of needs.
Essential Functions:
- Defines project elements and processes, coordinates estimates, and manages bid preparations to meet client needs.
- Ensures contract performance by planning and monitoring work orders with engineering, construction, and other disciplines.
- Plans and develops moderately complex architectural projects impacting major company programs, exploring scope and novel methods.
- Supports projects from concept to completion, coordinating with project management, architects, and leadership on technical solutions.
- Reviews junior staff work for accuracy, provides guidance, and performs quality control reviews, inspections, and field observations.
- Maintains licensure and professional registration; stays updated on building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations, and other ordinances.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Have a degree in architecture from an NAAB accredited program or equivalent experience.
- Have 10-years' experience, including working on parts of major projects or multiple, moderate-sized projects, providing technical guidance to entry/junior-level staff, reviewing others' work for technical accuracy, and participating in the design and implementation of new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans that had great impact on the achievement of functional results.
- Possess an active license in good standing and demonstrate knowledge of state and local building codes, zoning laws, fire regulations, and other relevant ordinances.
- Be proficient in production software and construction document production.
- Have a passion for formulating and solving problems with timely and innovative solutions.
- Have proven ability successfully address challenging issues in a sound professional and business-like manner.
- Possess strong oral and written communication skills and can effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders.
- Be US Citizen per client requirement.
