OVERVIEW:

The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of products in a manufacturing environment. Their primary role is to develop and implement quality control systems and processes to identify and resolve issues that may arise during the manufacturing process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quality Control Systems Development: Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systems and procedures to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations and industry standards.

  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement within the manufacturing operations and develop strategies to enhance efficiency and product quality. Audit, monitor and analyze manufacturing processes to identify and address potential quality issues.

  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality assurance procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards. Conduct audits and inspections to verify that manufacturing processes are in accordance with established quality standards.

  • Defect Analysis and Resolution: Investigate product defects, non-conformances, and customer complaints to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as production, engineering, and design, to resolve quality issues and prevent reoccurrence.

  • Statistical Analysis: Utilize statistical techniques and tools to analyze manufacturing data, identify trends, and assess process capability. Use statistical process control (SPC) methods to monitor process performance and ensure stability.

  • Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to establish quality requirements, conduct supplier audits, and resolve quality-related issues. Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain a consistent supply of high-quality materials and components.

  • Training and Documentation: Develop and deliver training programs to educate manufacturing personnel on quality control procedures, standards, and best practices. Maintain accurate documentation of quality procedures, work instructions, and specifications.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by promoting a culture of quality and providing recommendations for process enhancements. Participate in cross-functional teams to implement Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated with industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to manufacturing quality. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, such as ISO and OSHA standards.

  • Communication and Collaboration: Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of quality-related activities. Provide regular updates on quality performance metrics and present findings to management.

TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field (e.g., Statistics, industrial engineering, etc).
  • 3-7 years of work experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering role.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles, statistical analysis techniques, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in using statistical software and tools for data analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001:2015.
  • Experience in implementing Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Familiar with Value Stream Mapping, Gage R&R, Kaizen, 5S, Statistical Analysis, Cpk/Ppk, 5 Why's, Root Cause Analysis, 8D's, Error Proofing, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • three years' experience within a Quality role in a production environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Engineering print reading knowledge and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Industrial production environment.
  • Exposure to hot, cold & humid areas within the plant
  • Interaction with chemicals, heavy machinery, and moving equipment.
