Estimator

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Gather details and compiles data to estimate landscape construction, hardscaping, erosion control and lawn care costs according to specifications. Assist in identifying and determining resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints. Communicate with and interact effectively with Company staff, customers, sub-contractors, vendors, and suppliers.

Utilizes computer technology, along with specialized estimating programs and/or software, to prepare quotes, create spreadsheets, and communicate with other affected parties.

Perform other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review proposal specifications, drawings, addendums and estimate quantities and costs for all project phases.
• Prepare and present drawings, coordinate sub-contractor quotes and specifications and work with appropriate staff to develop plans, specifications and proposals for approval.
• Monitor and communicate adjustments due to cost increases and quantity changes for approval.
• Prepare change orders for approval.
• Perform cost comparison and analysis as requested and identify cost-saving techniques, materials and procedures.
• Value engineering, as necessary
• Establish and maintain a variety of manual and automated project records.
• Return phone calls and respond to customer inquiries or needs in a timely manner.
• Secure permits and other job related authorizations from local governing bodies or appropriate regulatory agencies/offices.
• Attend project meetings and/or events as appropriate.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Strong background in mathematics including algebra and geometry, drafting, blueprint reading and English.
• Understanding of all aspects of landscaping and lawn care services.
• Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office Suite and specialty software programs, as needed.
• Skill in computer technology.
• Skill in time management to plan and accomplish goals.
• Skill in using sound judgment in decision making.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively with Company staff, customers, sub-contractors, vendors and suppliers.
• Ability to organize and maintain neat and accurate records and/or files.
• Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
• Ability to work accurately and quickly under pressure.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Driver's License.
• Graduation from a junior or community college with coursework in engineering technology, landscaping or business management; or equivalent experience.
• Two to three years of experience in estimating or similar work in the landscaping field for five or more years.
• Any combination of education, training and experience, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
