Job Title: Environmental Compliance Specialist
Location(s): Weldon Spring, MO
Status: Full-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Hiring Range: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00/yr. (The anticipated starting salary pay range of $75,000.00 - $90,000.00/yr. is based on minimum requirements for this position. Minimum requirements are a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and at least 10 years of experience of relevant experience. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

For example, RSI EnTech, LLC is recruiting for an Environmental Compliance Specialist who will support Legacy Management’s (LM) obligation to protect human health and the environment and their post-closure obligation for long-term surveillance and maintenance, provide sustainability and regulatory compliance knowledge in support of those efforts. Integrate and participate in processes that ensure Environmental Management System (EMS) sustainability and compliance targets and goals are recognized and achieved

 

This position is required to travel and be in the field up to 10% of the time.

 

Primary responsibilities and essential functions:

  • Ensure EMS is in conformance with ISO 14001 standard.
  • Monitor performance and reporting progress on attainment of sustainability goals.
  • Integrate sustainability requirements in project planning.
  • Track progress of requirements until completion and ensure schedules are updated and documents are entered into team and client document tracking systems.
  • Update team and processes based on regulation changes and agency protocols and requirements.
  • Prepare sustainability planning documentation.
  • Review and evaluate proposed actions in accordance with applicable environmental laws.
  • Identify and interpret regulatory requirements.
  • Review and submit responses to proposed regulatory changes, data calls, and directives in support of DOE LM.
  • Conduct policy, procedural, and process compliance reviews and assessments.
  • Coordinate internal reviews, final document production, and submittals.
  • Prepare and participate in presentations and project schedules.
  • Update webpages and resource pages with final documents.
  • Participate in ISO 140001 audits and management reviews.
  • Travel to project sites or offices when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work experience, skills, and capabilities needed:

  • Understanding of principles, concepts, and techniques in environmental science and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge and experience gathering data necessary to complete data entry, reports, and plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skill and ability to perform professional tasks independently with little instruction.
  • Ability to work with employees, various levels of management and external program offices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Technical knowledge, certifications/licenses, and software proficiency required:

  • Proficiency in SharePoint and Microsoft Excel software platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Required Education and Years of Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related field with a minimum of 10 years’ experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

Sedentary Work Category – The employee exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch or feel, and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
