What are the responsibilities and job description for the Platform Director position at RSM?
The Platform Director will work with business and technology partners to identify business priorities and product needs in the Workday ecosystem. The Platform Director will lead a cross functional business team to drive solutions, build internal integrations and test Workday solutions and related enterprise products that enhance employee experiences by delivering solutions that seamlessly work together, are easy to use and cost effective. The Platform Director will initiate process improvement, provide strategic direction, and present well planned technical recommendations to senior management regarding integration, architecture, and testing. The Platform Director will be responsible for the technical success and maintenance of the IT aspects of the platform. The Platform Director will be responsible for personnel and dealing with personnel issues as well as performance evaluations and goal setting. This role will accurately assess staffing requirements and planning.
Essential Duties:
- Empowers and leads multi-disciplined teams to deliver outstanding value to the business by ensuring operational excellence at every level. Responsible for delivering and maintaining high quality software solutions, particularly custom developed enterprise portal solutions that are tightly integrated to other enterprise and LOB specific systems.
- Ensures that the team can make excellent technical and architectural decisions with minimal roadblocks and align with technical best practices and vision for scalability and reliability. Ensures that the needs for great user experience and ease of use are balanced with needs for time to market and reliability of the solution.
- Responsible for mentoring and coaching existing staff and ensures career growth options for different levels, and recruits world class talent for creating a high performing team. Demonstrates effective leadership and communicates performance expectations, feedback on performance, recognition, employee counseling reports and/or discipline including termination. Builds and maintains a culture of speed, excellence, collaboration, mentorship, and open feedback aligned with the firm’s values.
- Responsible for resource planning for projects, programs, and DevOps activities. Identifies team capacity and capability needs to support the platform and monitors utilization of team members. Maintains relationship with vendors for external sourcing needs.
- Manages the lifecycle and roadmaps for tools, services, technical debt and technology that support the design and software engineering activities.
- Responsible for creation and maintenance of design and software engineering standards and guidelines.
- Ensure the standards are followed using automated and manual techniques.
- Create budget for submission into the department budget and accountable to manage within approved areas of responsibility.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field is required; Master’s Degree is preferred
- Workday certifications are preferred
TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS:
- Strong experience in product design, software technical architecture and software engineering disciplines for building large scale solutions is required
- 5 years developing and delivering Workday solutions is required
- Experience with leading edge cloud technologies to build and deploy reliable and scalable products is required
- Firm understanding of the Agile software development life cycle is required
- Stays current on development trends and new technologies
- Understands the products and services offered by the Firm, and synthesize them for different audiences is preferred
- Eloquent communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences is required
EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated experience leading the building, implementation and support of Workday internal integrations and infrastructure components
- Extensive experience leading cross functional agile teams in a collaborative product and software engineering environment
- Strong Experience leading, scaling, and developing diverse software engineering teams
- Experience mentoring teams through problem resolution and encouraging staff to share responsibility in problem solving
- Experience with personnel management. Resolving conflicts timely and beneficially to all concerned
- Strong API, microservices and integration enablement technology is required
- Good understating of CI/CD, and Azure DevOps is preferred

- Progressive experience leading software engineering teams
- Strong learning, analytical and strategic leadership mindset
- Ability to communicate and present at various levels including Senior Leadership
- Ability to lead geographically distributed teams
