We are seeking an experienced Global Trade Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will join Collins Aerospace Interiors team responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of a successful GT program. Partner with Freight Forwarders, Governmental Customs Agencies, Customs Brokers and Business units to coordinate information for submission to government agencies and assist in establishing procedures to achieve compliance. Responsible for integrity of data declared to the government

This role is onsite in Lenexa, KS.

Primary Responsibilities:

Customs Documentation:

  • Identify compliance risks, conduct/assist audits and development of plans to eliminate / mitigate export risks
  • Support and Guide Import and Export requirements and provide expert knowledge to the respective sites
  • Support team members and other work streams in understanding and realizing Global Trade requirements
  • Providing training and procedures and documents related to
  • responsible for managing the life-cycle of complex cross-functional risk programs
  • Analyze and interpret trade compliance laws and regulations  and implement industry best practices in accordance with those laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required according to Global Trade or company requirements or strategy
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Attention to detail is required and must be able to work under general direction, plan, schedule and arrange own activities in accomplishing department objectives
  • Audit import/export documents in advance of shipments and review for completeness and accuracy of data required to perform customs entry process, to include Importer Security Filing (ISF) at origin
  • Maintain compliance of import/export activity through documentation, reporting and maintaining current with Bureau of Customs, Border Protection, Census Bureau, and other government agency regulations
  • Maintain metrics associated with customs clearance
  • Maintain import/export records and documents
  • HTS Classification (US and International), Schedule B assignment for all material categories
  • Collect, and validate product and vendor data to support COO, BAA, TAA claims.
  • Prepare and file USMCA agreements as requested or required

C-TPAT:

  • Assist in the maintenance of client’s C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) program including conducting employee training, audits, and documentation.

Import/Export Manual Compliance:

  • Primary contact for client’s regarding technical information relative to customs, import/export processes and procedures
  • Understand and assist in development of business unit import/export processes globally
  • Develop and conduct training around import/export compliance for internal customers
  • Continued maintenance of client’s Import/Export Compliance Manual
  • Maintain item level classification of HTS codes, Schedule B codes, and ECCN classifications with support such as binding rulings (whether ours or another company’s)
  • Coordinate with the Shipping/Receiving departments to ensure quantity discrepancies are noted and reported to customs brokers
  • Responsible for timely and accurate responses to government inquiries, work with business units to obtain needed information

Other:

  • Provide input to management team regarding departmental needs and/or resolution of escalated problems
  • Take an active role in initiating and assisting with the creation, development, documentation and implementation of logistics-related processes and procedures, including correcting deficiencies, improving reliability or increasing efficiency.
  • Expected level of travel: 10-15%

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience 
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Customs Broker License preferred but not mandatory
  • 4 years overall knowledge and understanding of Customs & Border Protection laws and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret government regulations and have a general understanding of technical language.
  • Basic knowledge of international air and ocean transportation
  • Export Administration Regulations (EAR) including anti-boycott regulations, sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Customers Regulations (CR), and the Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR)
  • Experience in deadline-driven environment and demonstrate flexible and efficient time management to appropriately prioritize workload
  • Proven ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
  • Ability to work with middle and upper management to meet expectations
  • Proven ability to be an effective contributor on cross-functional projects
  • Computer literate (MS Office, e-mail, US Government Import Export Systems, etc.)
