IPS - Rubbercraft, a company in the Aerospace Industry, is actively seeking an experienced Director of Supply Chain. This leadership role involves overseeing Production Planning, Materials Management, Shipping/Receiving, and Procurement teams. The Director is accountable for SIOP planning, master scheduling, capacity planning, raw material purchasing, inventory control, material kitting, production scheduling, and ERP system development. Additionally, they define and manage capacity, materials, and sourcing strategies while ensuring compliance with government regulations and organizational objectives.

Reporting Structure

  • Direct Line – VP/GM

  • Direct Reports – Planning Mgr., Master Scheduler, Purchasing Mgr, Warehouse Mgr., and Shipping and Receiving Supervisor (org size 18-25 salary and hourly)

Working Conditions

  • Onsite at Rubbercraft Long Beach, California. Daily attendance is required. Travel 15% to supplier sites, customer locations or Industry events.

  • Standard office environment. Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail. Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.

  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes.

  • Standing: 30% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task / Sitting: 70% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task / Lifting (in pounds): up to 20 pounds / Pushing (in pounds): up to 20 pounds / Mental/Visual: use of computer / Workspace (line, cube, etc): Office or Cubicle

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and manages the direction and daily activities of Rubbercraft Supply Chain with the focus on people, organization, process, and information technology.

  • Responsible for leading the implementation and management of SIOP initiatives, MRP parametrization, master scheduling process, capacity planning, KanBan systems, PFEP (Plan for Every Part), PPV (Purchase Price Variances) Initiatives, Inventory Control best practices and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to planning, scheduling and material flow across.

  • Responsible for embracing and driving lean enterprise systems throughout Rubbercraft supply chain.

  • Define department KPIs that support Rubbercraft strategic intent and budget. Responsible for: Supplier Performance (Quality, OTD and Price), Inventory Management (Turns, Accuracy and Variances, Quarterly and Annual Physical Inventory), Planning and Manufacturing On-Time Starts and OTD delivery to customers, Capacity Planning KPIs, Purchasing PPV, Stock Outs reduction, etc.

  • Will interact with all levels of Rubbercraft management including Operations, Sales, Engineering, Quality Control, Marketing and Finance

  • Will coordinate best practices for supply chain initiatives.

  • The person in this role is a focal point for key suppliers and key customers. This position interacts with customers at different levels.

  • Establish preferred supplier selection criteria based on supplier evaluations of price, quality, delivery, certifications, compliance with governmental procurement regulations and group programs

  • Responsible for developing crisis management and supplier backup contingency programs.

  • Negotiates long term contracts in coordination with RCC and IPS staff and policies.

  • Responsible for continuous improvements programs with suppliers

  • Responsible for managing operational inventory to ensure adequate stocking levels for immediate production items and forecasting for future requirements.

  • Will establish and implement standard/automated delivery procedures for just in time supplier stocking items.

  • Accountable for managing Rubbercraft’s overall strategic production planning practices taking into consideration short term/long term production requirements and integrating materials availability.

  • Will establish and implement procedures for special order request, engineering changes and part substitutions, and sales market demand for products.

  • Manage the Rubbercraft’s transportation logistics to ensure optimum service at the most efficient cost.

  • Provides leadership by promoting team concepts, coaching, counseling, retaining, mentoring, training, talent management, and individual development.

  • Drives a culture of accountability and results through strategy deployment and effective performance management.

  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.


Requirements:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

  • A least five (5) years of leadership experience in Aerospace Manufacturing or Automotive Manufacturing supply chain management

  • Requires a 4-year college degree in business, engineering, supply chain management. MBA or Supply Chain Advance studies are a plus.

  • Experienced implementing and leading SIOP initiatives, MRP parametrization, master scheduling process, capacity planning, KanBan systems, PFEP (Plan for Every Part), PPV (Purchase Price Variances) Initiatives, Inventory Control best practices and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to planning, scheduling and material flow across.

  • Experience with materials and inventory variances analysis and the impact on P&L and cashflow.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving thinking abilities, with a proactive and results-driven mindset. Familiarity with structured problem-solving methodologies is a plus such as A3, 8D, basic problem-solving statistical tools. etc.

  • Proven ability of data analysis in excel utilizing advanced formulas, dynamic and pivot tables is a must. Experience writing basic macros is a plus.

  • Experience in AS9100 and requirements for Supply Chain.

  • Familiarity with technical documentation, blueprint reading, and material specifications is plus.

  • APICS certification is a plus.

  • Proficiency in ERPs, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant business tools.

  • Mid to advance level creating and modifying PowerPoint presentations for executive leadership and customers.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal, communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts
