Automation Engineer One position available for one of the following locations; Prescott, AZ, Newport, NH, Mayodan, NC or Enfield, CT We are in search of an Automation Engineer with a minimum 5 years of engineering experience to work in one of the above listed locations. The Automation Engineer will be an instrumental member of our Manufacturing Team and will be expected to work collaboratively with leadership, operations, associates, and other functional areas, to promote a productive an amicable work environment. The ideal candidate will be able to mentor other engineers. The Automation Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving automation systems in new and existing product lines. The best qualified engineer will be ambitious and self-reliant with a problem solving focus, and be able to function autonomously with a “cradle to grave process ownership” focus. Our company’s manufacturing philosophy is interfaced CNC single piece flow value streams, much like the automotive manufacturing industry. All Automation Engineers must also be able to adhere to the company’s core values of Integrity, Respect, Innovation and Teamwork. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and implement multiple complex automation projects. Utilize CAD software to design automated systems and create the proper documentation to support the design after implementation (electrical, hydraulics, pneumatic and mechanical schematics). Select and determine the system architecture, remote I/O systems and motion controlled equipment, including robots, fixed automation and interface to CNC machinery Use PFMEA thinking to develop specifications that will assist in equipment selection and integration method for all the safety systems; end of arm tooling, vision systems, sensors, metrology devices, and data collection. Develop detailed work instructions and preventative maintenance schedules for the automated systems. Coordinate with both internal and external tooling and equipment suppliers for equipment fabrication and validation. PLC programming, trouble shooting, and installation of automated systems. Train and assist in the supervision of associates responsible for interfacing with, and maintaining automated equipment. Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be of high integrity and maintain confidentiality at all times. Other requirements and considerations include: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Science) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in automation. Able to work in a cross-functional team on priority projects. Strong knowledge of GD&T and its application to manufacturing methods. Strong knowledge of robotics, mechanical and electrical systems, vision systems, and hydraulic and pneumatic circuits. Knowledge of lean operation system and high mix/high volume manufacturing. Proficiency with written and oral communication; Need to effectively present technical documents with an ability to explain technical concepts with depth that is tailored to the expected audience. Self-starter who is well-organized, detail-oriented, creative and possesses excellent problem solving skills. Strong time management skills; Must be able to handle multiple projects and important issues at one time. Proven ability to maintain and manage a dynamically changing schedule and balance overall workloads; prior experience with developing and maintaining a core vendor network to supplement in-house technical staff as needed.
