Summary
The Testpiece Barista will use their expertise to brew coffee, pull shots of espresso, and be the face of the café to guests.
This role will serve drinks while maintaining a clean and organized workspace and café area. You will also be responsible for taking orders, handling transactions, and answering customer drink menu questions with knowledge and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities
- Ensure customers consistently receive an excellent level of customer service by greeting and engaging with them in a friendly and professional manner
- Understand and adhere to all safety, sanitation, and company-wide procedures to ensure the safety of customers and employees
- Handle all beverage preparation and service, including alcoholic and espresso beverages, ensuring that all drinks are made to the customer's specifications
- Run food and beverage orders to patrons in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that all orders are accurate
- Able to answer any menu questions and provide suggestions
- Actively and verbally promote specials to patrons
- Fulfills daily cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, bussing and wiping down tables, washing dishes and general cleaning of the eatery / kitchen, to ensure a clean and welcoming environment for customers
- Stocks storage areas and assists with inventory to ensure that all supplies are readily available
- Utilize Toast POS according to Testpiece standards to take orders, input product that is out of stock, entering employee meals, and proper communication with BOH and patrons
- Communicates updates (inventory, prep needs, missing products etc.) to team members / manager, to ensure smooth operations
- Assists manager(s) and team as needed to ensure that the café operates efficiently and effectively
Qualifications
- Holds a current Food Handlers' Card
- Holds a current Utah Alcohol Server Permit or able to obtain one before hire date
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Minimum of one year barista experience
- Friendly, approachable, and service-oriented
- Solid knowledge of different espresso and coffee drinks
- Ability to works nights and weekends
- Comfortable working independently and as a team
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while remaining calm and focused
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
Job Hazards
This position is exposed to airborne chalk, dust, and cleaning supplies. Other hazards are falling from slippery surfaces after they have been cleaned, being exposed to hot liquids and steam, loud noises.
Potential of cuts and scrapes from kitchen utensil use.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to bend at the waist and lift items up to 50 lbs. to waist level;
- Ability to move items up to 50 lbs. for distances of up to 25 feet;
- Ability to remain standing and active for an 8-12 hour shift;
- Ability to hear, understand, and respond to employees' and guests' requests in a loud environment;
- Ability to tolerate exposure to cold and hot temperatures throughout the shift;
- Skill and coordination in lifting and carrying tubs and trays of dishes;
- Manual dexterity in using kitchen utensils and equipment.
