The Intercom Engineer is an individual contributor that programs communication systems for events after working with clients and producers to determine communication needs. They enable remote production elements to communicate with local production and assist users with software and equipment. As an expert in intercom systems and production communication, this individual will work in concert with the audio and engineering teams to support projects and workstreams at a large production facility in Redmond, WA.
- Work as a member of the Audio team to ensure all productions are set up for success.
- Program intercom systems (frames, panel assignments, IFBs, trunk lines, etc.).
- Work with event owners to determine intercom needs (key panels, RF packs, party lines, IFBs, point-to-point, virtual panels, trunk allocation, logic, etcetera) for all productions, and document those needs.
- Help to determine the most robust connection methodology for remote talent and event sites.
- Ensure that intercom resources are properly allocated between all production spaces.
- Spec and rent additional intercom hardware as needed.
- Assist in selection and training of freelance intercom personnel.
- Restore intercom systems to optimal default configurations once productions wrap.
- Manage system firmware and update patches in partnership with Audio Supervisor, Audio Systems team, Scheduling team, and Engineering team.
- Monitor production communication and respond quickly to intercom requests.
- Monitor system health and work across teams to troubleshoot issues.
- Remotely configure virtual panel apps on client machines.
- Write documentation and document event configurations.
- Manage system backups, partial saves, license files, and blocking.
- Attend technical production meetings to remain aware of changing intercom needs surrounding events.
