Work Schedule : 8 Hr (6 : 00 : 00 AM - 9 : 30 : 00 PM)
Summary :
Under direct supervision : maintains the automated diet office system, uses the Rush Computer System, responds to patients' tray inquiries / requests and acts as a liaison between the patient and nurse and Food and Nutrition Services Department providing meal service to pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Responsibilities :
1. Works as a Diet Order Processor, as assigned : runs individualized patient menus; runs / collate reports for Central Kitchen and Clinical Nutrition Area;
2. Call patients to obtain first meal(s) selections and process the menus to ensure customer satisfaction.
3. Enters patient menu selections into CBORD.
4. Knows how to operate and maintain computer hardware.
5. Ensures that computer supplies are available for daily operation.
6. Knows and operates the Interface printer and PCIS / POE computer pathways appropriately.
7. Troubleshoots problems, solves as needed and escalates as necessary.
8. Know downtime procedures for patient menu processing including heading and modifying menus for patients of all ages; modifying textures and consistencies as needed, and checking menus according to the prescribed diet.
9. Appropriately modifies menus, for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Accurately completes diet changes as necessary.
10. Courteously receive and transmit patient and nursing telephone messages.
11. Processes age-appropriate tray requests and records orders on the telephone log.
12. Communicates patient problems, food preferences, calorie count information to the Clinic Dietitian, Diet Technician or Host. Diet Clerk / 2
13. Works in the Formulary Room preparing special tube feedings for patients of all ages.
14. Accurately transcribes, initiates and discontinues formulary orders. Manages inventory of products.
15. Assists with orientation and training of new employees and students as assigned.
16. Participates in the department's quality control and improvement program. Collects data, acts as team member on quality improvement teams.
17. Perform related duties in the Central Kitchen or Diet Office as assigned.
18. Follows Food and Nutrition Services Policies.
Other information :
Required Job Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED.
Preferred Job Qualifications :
Food Service experience and / or data processing experience.
