Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clinical Lab Facilitator in the School of Nursing’s Center for Clinical Learning. The Clinical Lab Facilitator is responsible for providing technical and operational support both within assigned school and to our learners, faculty, and partners. In addition to the technical and operational aspect of the job, may be tasked with delivering on-site, off-site, and in situ simulation setup when assigned, support and troubleshooting, and supporting day-to-day operations of a center or simply support a course in conjunction with faculty or simulation educator. The Clinical Lab Facilitator may be asked to provide basic clinical expertise during scenario design or setup phase or provide clinical expertise during a training session (as applicable).

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Assists instructors/participants in utilization of simulation and simulators using best practices.
  • Orients faculty, staff, guest facilitators, key educators, and others assigned to the simulation center and resources.
  • Provides or assists in orientation to the participants of the simulation event and resources, including simulators.
  • Operate simulators as outlined in the scenario developed.
  • Assist organization in tours, development of cooperative opportunities, and grant related activities as requested.
  • Assists in the design and development and evaluation of new courses, scenarios, and educational initiatives in collaboration with faculty and content experts.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine. Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 2-years of experience involving educational activities in a healthcare environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience (or equivalent) in patient care in a clinical setting.


Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid Driver’s License.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of simulation platforms.
  • Knowledge of basics of adult learning theory and application.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to interact with various types of Healthcare and Educational professionals.
  • Effective interpersonal relationships and the ability to promote student and program success in a team environment.
  • Requires some flexibility regarding campus and site locations as well as scheduled hours.
  • Must be able to work independently, problem solve and make decisions using strategic and analytical thinking.
  • Applies Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint knowledge at an intermediate level of Microsoft application, Windows OS, Mac OS, and iOS.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous simulation experience preferred.
  • Active clinical licensure or certification as an LPN, RN, EMT, EMTP, or RT with clinical experience in a broad experiential base.
  • Experience with conducting virtual (web-based) education using Zoom or similar platform.
  • Previous experience as a simulator operator or technician.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification.
  • Instructor certification in a healthcare related discipline such as the American Heart Association’s BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS instructor.
