Posting Summary | Rutgers University-Camden office of the registrar is seeking a School Certifying Official (Program Coordinator I).This employee serves as Rutgers University – Camden’s Veterans’ Affairs School Certifying Official. This position reports to the Associate Registrar and is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of Veteran education benefit certifications. This involves: · Reviewing and verifying all VA benefit documentation · Coding VA benefit holders and National Guardsmen correctly in the student records system. · Submitting veteran certifications to the VA via the Enrollment Manager tool, including schedule changes and graduation. · Communicating with benefit holders regarding the certification process and their certification status. · Reviewing Veteran academic progress and verifying coursework is appropriate for VA payment. · Accessing and approving VR&E students through Tungsten portal and communicating eligibility to interested offices on campus. · Working with Student Accounting to obtain tuition and fees to be submitted to the VA. · Coordinating with other University SCOs to implement changes to University policy to match VA and state policy updates. · Reporting catalog changes to the VA and presenting new programs to be approved as certifiable for VA benefits. The School Certifying Official will coordinate with the offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, Student Accounting, Veterans’ Affairs, and Advising to ensure that student veterans, National Guard members, and veteran dependents are serviced in accordance with University and VA policies. They will attend annual VA training events in order to stay up-to-date with all federal changes to benefit certification, and will be the main point of contact for VA audits. This person will be responsible for keeping campus offices up-to-date with VA policies and procedures, and serves as the Rutgers University – Camden liaison to the NJ State Approving Agency and Veteran Affairs Administration. The School Certifying Official also maintains membership and represents the campus at quarterly New Jersey Association of Veteran Program Administrators. They will also coordinate with other University SCOs to voice concerns and determine best practices across the University. The School Certifying Official is a member of the Office of the Registrar, and will be trained in the Student Records system, and all other Registrar systems. They are expected to learn other aspects of the office and assist with special projects as necessary for both the Office of the Registrar, as well as the Division of Enrollment Management. These special projects may include working occasional nights or weekends. |

Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must, along with excellent organizational skills. Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as a good overall understanding of computers and student records databases is also required. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills and customer service experience. |
Preferred Qualifications | Experience with Veterans’ Affairs and/or experience in a university setting. Familiarity or experience with VA Enrollment Manager site is also a plus. |

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
