Operating Room Scheduler-Operating Room 10A-6P (Full Time, Day)

JOB SUMMARY:

Schedules operative procedures via walk-in, telephone and fax requests, using knowledge of procedures, area of body involved, equipment conflicts, staffing, surgeon preferences, scheduling habits and suite utilization. Works independently at the information desk, contacting patient care areas, directing OSA s, utilizing pager system, takes messages and communicates to appropriate person. Is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree Required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Six to twelve months prior experience in secretarial position required.
• Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.
• Medical background preferred.
