What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rad Oncology Service Engr position at RWJBarnabas Health?
Essential Functions:
- Performs maintenance and repairs on linear accelerators and therapy simulators used in radiation therapy.
- Checks all functions pertaining to safe and proper operation of linear accelerators and therapy simulators.
- Check alignment of patient positioning devices in the treatment and simulator rooms including lasers, field lights, and distance indicator readouts.
- Performs routine periodic maintenance as per factory-designated schedules.
- Responsible for implementing and testing equipment upgrades.
- Be thoroughly familiar with electronic and mechanical components of linear accelerators and therapy simulators.
- Be available for emergency on-call repair for all machines and be willing to work after treatment hours to correct malfunctions.
- Be willing to travel to any SBHCS site as scheduled or requested.
- Work with and assist medical physics in machine calibrations or problems that would affect beam quality.
- Will respond to all problems in a courteous and professional manner.

Job Requirements:
- At least 3 years service experience with radiation therapy linear accelerators and simulators.
- Needs to use Radiation Safety protocols & High Voltage safety.
- Needs to be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
