The Automation Maintenance Manager role will reside within Ryder’s Automation Team and will function as a subject matter expert acting as a liaison and support interface to Ryder distribution locations that have significant automation solutions. This role will advise, coordinate be escalation of support when situations that are beyond on-site team ability to readily address.
Experience needed:
8 years of maintenance management experience while supervising others, background with maintenance software, excel, word needed.Interface with clients, peers and experience with managing vendors a must.
Technical skills: Background with Electrical, PLC’s, Mechanical required, experience with conveyance systems a plus.
Personal attributes needed for this role:
Detail oriented, a great multi tasker, knows how to prioritize well, physically capable of dealing with heavy workload, adaptable and needs to promote safety where ever applied, able to manage multiple vendors at once, along with staff and timelines that need to be achieved on time delivery is a must. Needs to be able to work alone and being a self-starter is very important.
Essential Functions
The Automation Maintenance Manager will advise, coordinate with vendor, or elevate to appropriate level of expertise if required to address an automation issue.
Troubleshoot and advise on issues involving Warehouse Execution Systems (WES) and Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
Manage automation vendor relationships including warranties, service agreements, and spare part procurement.
For new automation installations, this role may support and/or oversee installations of new automated equipment.
Responsible for developing training and troubleshooting documentation for the sites with automation
Manage KPI’s for update, MTF, vendor response, along with other critical items needed to support optimal automation performance
Support continuous improvement initiatives that involve the update, or revision of automation.
Work with automation vendors to troubleshoot system issues and resolving warranty claims.
Help recommend and schedule appropriate preventative PM’s while utilizing Advanced Maintenance Management Software.
Help identify and/or solve operational issues with conveyance and robotic equipment while implementing continuous improvement and LEAN initiatives, to strengthen team unity, goals, productivity and results.
Help teams hire, develop and manage performance for technicians and maintain automated accounts.
Maintain open and effective communications within the work group(s) and with other work groups within the organization. Review data, identify and implement necessary actions as required.
Preferred Experience
Experience using and trouble-shooting automation control issues using Warehouse Control Systems (WCS) and Warehouse Execution Systems (WMS)
Experience maintaining spare parts inventories and Preventive Maintenance schedules using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Experience working in a distribution center that was managed with a Warehouse Management System (WMS)

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering or equivalent is required or a minimum of 8 years of relevant verifiable work experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a distribution/logistics environment
Travel: 20-30%. Travel will consist mostly of regional onsite trouble-shooting when required. Would be a requirement initially to familiarize with specific sites and locations, which in some cases is best served with on-site visit. Other instances requiring travel may be new site automation implementation support and training of on-site staff.
