Ryder is hiring for a Warehouse Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift in Hagerstown, MD!
We are looking for a Maintenance Technician that is responsible for daily and preventative maintenance to building maintenance and Forklift p.m.’s This position requires direct involvement with daily operations and future projects to assure that these activities support facility goals and objectives on behalf of our customer.
About the position:
- Consistent pay: $31/hour
- Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm *Subject to Change*
- Requirements:
- Possesses a strong background in maintenance repair and preventative maintenance programs.
- Knowledge MHE (material handling equipment) and building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair MHE and Dock equipment.
- Good electronic background, familiar with 3 phase 480V.
- Must have working knowledge of computer-based equipment maintenance and parts inventory systems.
- Background in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs in MHE and building maintenance.
This candidate should be primarily focused on maintaining the entire conveyor system, which includes, electrical (low and high voltage), mechanical, and pneumatic trouble shooting, understanding of the operation and how the conveyor equipment interfaces with the operational process, systems, and software. Working with outside vendors to support complexed issues, and retaining knowledge for future mitigation.
Eventually, MHE repair and preventative MHE maintenance will start, but that will come later. All of the other general warehouse functions, like changing light bulbs, cleaning webs, working on dock doors and levelers, plunging toilets, etc., will start immediately.
Responsibilities:
· Participate in the continual development and improvement of maintenance policies, procedures and standard operating procedures for the facility.
· Maintain and insure spare parts inventories and/or consignment inventories are being maintained consistent with procedures.
· Ensure a clean and organized maintenance area. Facility always tour ready.
· Ensure PM entries into software are complete and accurate.
· Ensure compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP’s).
· Utilizes the computerized maintenance management systems to their fullest potential as a tool to keep the department organized and as a communication tool to the plant and corporate management.
· Establishes work schedules that meet the demands of operating and PM programs.
· Actively participate in safety and Lean programs; support the Ryder culture.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Possesses a strong background in maintenance repair and preventative maintenance programs. Ability to work with PLC’s is required.
· Knowledge of 480volts and pneumatic equipment.
· Ability to troubleshoot electronic components and repair packaging equipment.
· Good electronic background.
· Must have good organizational, communication, and planning skills.
· Must have working knowledge of computer based equipment maintenance and parts inventory systems.
· Ability to lift up to 60lbs. repeatedly.
· Able to work in fast paced environment and be able to multitask.
· Ability to work independently in a safe manner
· Understanding of food grade warehouse sanitary requirements.
· Background in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs in automation.
- Other requirements: Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong background in maintenance repair and preventative maintenance programs
- Good organizational, communication, and planning skills
- Basic computer and parts inventory system skills
- Aptitude to investigate and problem-solve various mechanical issues
Responsibilities
- Complete all routine lubrications, repairs and trouble shooting tasks of mechanical warehouse equipment
- Assist and monitor all work being performed by outside contractors
- Maintain inventory controls for cost effective operations
- Schedule and complete preventative maintenance procedures
- Assure safety standards are used which comply with all company, local, city, state and federal guidelines
- Monitor and maintain grounds and building systems
- Depending on location, employee may be required to operate equipment and may be required to be equipment certified
- Special projects and other responsibilities as may be determined
