What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Rye Country Day School?
Rye Country Day School is seeking a full or part-time Controller beginning immediately. Rye Country Day School is a coeducational, PreK-12, college preparatory school located in Westchester County, New York dedicated to providing students with an excellent education using both traditional and innovative approaches. Responsibilities:
- Oversee general ledger and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP standards; direct responsibility for restricted funds, philanthropy, and investment accounting
- Maintain internal controls
- Coordinate all audit activity
- Analyze financial data and present reports in an accurate and timely manner; monitor progress and changes
- Support the CFO in engaging the Board's Finance and Audit Committees
- Assist with the annual budgeting process; review and compare to actual results to identify and explain variances
Qualifications:
- CPA strongly preferred
- Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments
- Keen analytic, organization, and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of Blackbaud's Financial Edge software a plus
