Specific Group Descriptions and Skills:
Safety (Static) – Most tests are performed to specific government regulations in a static environment. Equipment used involves servo hydraulic actuators, load cells, string potentiometers, LVDT’s and a variety of test related load applicators. Setups typically include securing steel fixtures or vehicle bodies to a t-slot plate, installation of seats and
their components, positioning test samples, calibration of sensors with the controller, and video camera setup. Post test/tear down includes removing samples and fixtures from the bed plate, data analysis, general cleanup, and prepping items to be shipped. Some tests are custom, with no guidance available, these tests are performed using good judgement and critical thinking. Helpful skills: knowledge of basic hand tools and some power tools (Sawzall, grinder, drill), welding, crane operation, basic math principles, sewing machine operation etc.

Hydraulic Durability (HD) – HD is broken into two sub groups, Component and MAST. The Component group typically deals with chassis and suspension parts while MAST tests a mix of interior and exteriors parts. Technicians hired for this group will be shared between both sub groups. Both sub groups use servo hydraulic actuators primarily in combination with load cells or accelerometers. Setups typically include installing vehicle parts onto steel or aluminum fixture and then securing them to a t-slot bed plate or MAST table top. Installation and maintenance of hydraulic equipment, fixture fabrication/modification, and general setup troubleshooting is required. Upon test completion, typical tasks include removal of samples and fixtures, general cleanup and prepping items to be shipped.
