What are the responsibilities and job description for the Truss Designer position at S.R. Sloan?
S.R. Sloan is searching for a designer and estimator for trusses, wall panels, stairs, and other engineered wood products. This is an excellent opportunity for you to develop a great career in a construction related profession with an industry leader! As a designer you are responsible for reading and interpreting blueprints to develop designs for complete building projects. A designer concentrates on layouts for roofs, flooring, wall panels, and stairs for residential or commercial buildings. You will be creating designs through computer-aided design (CAD) software to ensure accuracy and the relevant building codes. You will interact with clients and contractors regarding construction progress and deadlines.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Developing and completing design details from original concept drawings and preparing layouts.
- Ensuring conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes, if applicable.
- Interpreting design requirements as indicated by procedures, design manuals, and other applicable specifications.
- Generating and providing timely and accurate pricing for estimating purposes.
- Generating layouts for final construction.
- Reviewing design(s) for most efficient and profitable use of inventory, equipment, and manpower as time permits.
- Ensuring designs are accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards.
- Assist in sales and production with design service and troubleshooting.
- Handles customer’s questions and complaints in a timely professional manner.
- Assist in sales on following up and selling the benefits of our design to close the deal.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent attention to detail in order to create accurate diagrams and drafts.
- The ability to spot potential problems within a rough sketch and visualize solutions.
- Utilize math skills to calculate various lengths, weights, and angles.
- Technical knowledge of CAD software, inventory systems, and Microsoft.
- Collaborate with customers, coworkers, and management.
- Responding to common inquiries from customers.
- Multi-tasking between multiple projects and designs with ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
