Position Summary: To Participate in all public relations & agency awareness efforts to create and maintain visibility of our programs in the community. Also, to enhance community giving through special events to allow us to provide a continuum of services.
Community Relations Coordinator (Polk, San Jacinto & Trinity Counties)
Qualifications:
· Two years of related work experience (marketing, donor relations, fundraising, non-profits, program development)
· Bachelor’s degree or two additional years of related work experience
· Experience in community relations & public speaking preferred
· Must have reliable transportation and current auto insurance as required by the State of Texas
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Education & Prevention:
· Maintain and enhance community awareness regarding the mission, services, and needs of SAAFE House through a plan that uses a variety of mediums that reflect the diversity within the communities we serve
· Work to develop presentations and programs that enhance community awareness about family violence and sexual assault-related issues
· Assist the Polk County Coordinator in serving as a spokesperson to the media and community
· Attend community-sponsored events as needed
· Maintain an active social media presence for Polk, Trinity, and San Jacinto Counties to enhance awareness and access to services. Coordinate efforts with Community Relations Director.
· Ensure continual contact with SAAFE House supporters, including newsletter mailings, e-mailings, social media, and timely letters of appreciation and recognition as part of education
· Develop and implement presentations and programs that enhance community awareness about family violence and sexual assault-related issues both in one-time event and develop repeated presentations to increase change in societal response.
· Develop community events & programs that highlight special awareness months, most specifically Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April), and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (February)
· Maintain records of speaking engagement schedules, presenters, and materials
Volunteers
· Develop a community plan of a strategic plan for volunteer recruitment in Polk, Trinity, and San Jacinto Counties utilizing media, speaking engagements, brochures, etc.
· Participate in the development of specific plans and goals to accomplish volunteer service needs
· Identify, develop, and initiate volunteer projects to assist in overall agency operations
· Attend pertinent agency development meetings to provide representation of volunteer programs and proceedings
· Maintain compliance with agency policies, funding sources
· Maintain volunteer files to include applications, references, confidentiality at other policy requirements
· Complete all paperwork and reports necessary to maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures
· Compile volunteer statistic reports for different granters and internal reports
· Work with volunteers to ensure completion of monthly data entry of volunteer service data into the software database
· Implement systems to ensure completion of all volunteer paperwork, to include volunteer timesheets and client service logs
· Oversee the functions of all volunteers and provide backup services as needed
· Effectively recruit, train, evaluate, monitor, and dismiss agency volunteers
· Facilitate regularly scheduled meetings to connect volunteers with each other and the agency
· Provide initial and ongoing training to volunteers to ensure preparation to work in his/her respective area
· Oversee scheduling of volunteers to meet the needs of the organization’s program
· Recognize a volunteer’s special interest and skills and implement them into programs
· Develop and maintain efforts to recognize, appreciate, and retain volunteers (thank you cards, follow up calls, formal recognition, etc.)
· Assist in problem solving any concerns related to volunteers in the organization
· Create and maintain a workspace equipped for volunteers to carry out assigned tasks
Recruit, Screen, train and supervise volunteers to work within agency. Train volunteers to work with clients.
Program Support:
· With the board committees develop, implement, and coordinate a strategic plan with short-term and long-term goals, objectives, and budget that incorporate the organization’s mission and long-range plans for education and volunteer programming
· Provide ongoing evaluation information of programs to the Leadership Team
· Maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures, funding source
· Provide monthly reports to the board of directors to inform of monthly and YTD revenue and upcoming opportunities for the agency
· Adopt and practice the agency model of open, honest, and ethical communication and communicate effectively with clients, customers, and other staff members
· Ensure communication between all community-based employees and programs
· Attend meetings pertinent to job performance
· Assist in supporting efforts to raise money in the communities.
