Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor - Department of Counselor Education, FCEHD The Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development (FCEHD) at Sacred Heart University (SHU) invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, twelve (12)-month appointment at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will serve as a core faculty member for FCEHD's online master's degree programs in the department of Counselor Education. The department includes online master’s degrees in clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, Higher Education and Student Affairs as well as an Advanced Certificate in Play Therapy. Review of applications will begin immediately with an anticipated start date of Fall 2024. The Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position will require an innovative, self-sufficient, and critical thinker who can work within a collaborative online environment. The successful candidate will teach core courses, practicums and internships, and will support the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Sacred Heart University’s (SHU) Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is uniquely designed with the mission, vision, and values of SHU at its heart. The successful candidate will be expected to: Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff and collaborate to identify and solve problems and engage in program improvement. Demonstrate the skills and ability to organize the work of self and others. Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines. Design, develop, and teach courses for the online master's programs in counseling. Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in employing best practices in the assessment of student learning and academic program outcomes. Demonstrate the ability to engage graduate students and community partners. Demonstrate knowledge of state licensure and program approval processes for counseling and related programs. Demonstrate knowledge of national accreditation processes for counseling and related programs (e.g., CACREP, COAMFTE). Demonstrate the ability to maintain and organize regulatory and compliance documentation, reports, and other metrics using electronic media. Demonstrate the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Demonstrate knowledge of counseling privacy and other protocols including HIPPA, HITECH, FERPA, and state/district policies, as they apply to student records and field experiences. Required Qualifications Earned Ph.D. in Counselor Education & Supervision (CACREP Accredited). Possesses state licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), License/Certified School Counselor, or equivalent. Possesses state credential as a clinical supervisor or at the national level (e.g., Approved Clinical Supervisor [ACS]). Prior experience in teaching, research, and leadership. Demonstrates a strong professional counseling identity and commitment to the counseling profession. Demonstrate potential to teach in online graduate-level programs and supervise counselors-in-training utilizing a variety or technological tools/platforms. Actively promote a collegial environment and consciously apply our mission and values to create a culture of inclusion and belonging; a safe space where all may thrive and succeed. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the CACREP accreditation process. Membership in appropriate professional organizations (e.g., ACA, ACES, etc.). Demonstrated excellence in placement and supervision of counselors-in-training. Demonstrated strong commitment to and professional experience with diverse populations. Evidence of scholarship commensurate with clinical faculty expectations at the Assistant or Associate Clinical Faculty level.
