Molding - Process Engineer-DGM

OVERVIEW The candidate will be responsible for leading design, development, and full implementation of plastic molding processes for new and existing products in a commercial manufacturing facility. The position requires a technical, expert-level understanding of injection molding process development fundamentals to support mold startup and ongoing production corrections and improvements. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the use of process characterization and optimization using designed experiments and a variety of data analysis tools. RESPONSIBILITIES Detailed design and development for injection molding process and equipment through risk assessment, DOE methods, mold flow analysis, tool design, and analytical testing Conduct Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews for new products with internal engineers and designers, contract manufacturers, mold builders, material suppliers, and appropriate service suppliers Develops, defines and implements material, equipment and/or process enhancements that will improve product quality and yield, process sustainability, efficiency, and safety. Evaluates and tracks control process variation to maintain process control and drive optimization opportunities Initial startup and process definition for all new injection molding tools QUALIFICATIONS BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or related field, 10 years related engineering level injection molding processing experience without BS degree 5 years of relevant injection molding experience 3 years solid modeling experience (SolidWorks experience preferred) and mold flow analysis Demonstrated experience in design and optimization of molding equipment, tooling, and injection molding process. Demonstrated experience in process set-up, DOE, optimization and troubleshooting for precision parts. Demonstrated experience in failure and assembly analysis for injection molded parts
