What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Advocate position at Safe Harbor Crisis Center?

Summary of Role
The Adult Advocate provides counseling and resources to adult survivors of domestic violence residing in our Hope Housing (HH) facility. This position provides services and support to assigned survivors during their time in the Hope Housing Program and works closely with other Hope Housing staff members.

What you'll do:

  • Develop methods, approaches, and/or procedures to meet program requirements and survivors’ needs.
  • Responsible for crisis intervention, assessment and implementation of services for Hope Housing adult clients.
  • Provide advocacy, safety planning and case management services to Hope Housing adult clients.
  • Coordinate appropriate services for clients with HH Property Manager, HH Children’s Advocate, and Director of Residential Services.
  • Responsible for referring individuals to appropriate community resources for additional assistance and counseling.
  • Conduct and assist with psycho-educational classes for HH clients.

What we're looking for:

  • You are skilled in group counseling and facilitation, effective communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and crisis management.
  • You can relate positively to persons who are diverse in age, ethnicity, socioeconomic levels, beliefs, and lifestyles.
  • You can respond empathetically to survivors of crime to reduce levels of trauma and provide support during crisis intervention.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in social sciences or a related field OR 4 years' experience in the social services or housing field.
  • You have a valid drivers license and are able to pass a background investigation check.

We have implemented strengths-based, trauma-informed best practices recognizing that each person we serve is an expert in their experience.

Pay: $16.00 per hour
