Job Description
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Classroom Teacher, a Paraprofessional provides service by assisting students in academics, supervising students throughout the day, maintaining classroom management, help with classroom organization and is an active participant in the school wide community.
Areas of Responsibility
Learning Environment
1. Maintain a therapeutic environment within the classroom
2. Contribute to a positive school culture
3. Maintain safety throughout the school day
4. Communicates student or classroom issues with the teacher, social worker and administration.
5. Maintains a positive attitude
Supervision and Assistance
1. Supervises the students throughout the school day (classes, specials, lunch, PE, arrival and dismissal, passing periods and quiet room)
2. Provides structure by maintaining routines and enforcing set rules/guidelines
3. Provide academic guidance and assistance under the supervision of the teacher
4. Assist teacher and social worker with behavioral management/interventions
5. Maintains the classroom schedule
6. Drive student in school provided vehicle
Classroom/School Organization
1. Records and track data
2. Grade papers
3. Make copies
4. Record weekly grades
5. Record attendance
6. Gathers/replenish supplies
7. Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization
8. Manage Chromebooks and make sure they are charged each evening
9. Create bulletin boards
10. Complete tasks that contribute to schoolwide organization
School Expectations
1. Actively participates as a member of the team
2. Maintains a solution focus when addressing problems
3. Participates in staff development and required meetings
4. Maintains punctuality to assigned areas and classes
5. Supervise clubs/activities (garden, GSA, other clubs)
6. Participate in committees
7. Reports Safety or maintenance issues
General Responsibilities
1. DCFS mandated reporter
2. Maintains ISBE licensure and compliance expectations
3. Maintains attendance and punctuality
4. Maintains required paperwork
5. Monitor student use of all school equipment and materials
6. Maintain professional boundaries with assigned students and staff members
7. Presents positively and professionally in appearance and demeanor
8. Maintain expectations as stated in the employee handbook.
Completes additional tasks as required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $36,000.00 per year
