COUNSELOR ADVOCATE
Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Advocate is responsible for providing services to victims including but not limited to safety planning, providing information on victimization, helping victims access resounces and case advocacy to victims of abuse. The advocate shall be committed to the philosophy and mission of SafeNet.
REPORTS TO: Residential Manager/Executive Director
SUPERVISES: N/A
DUTIES:
The Advocate may provide any of a number of services at a variety of sites. The duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Develops a safety plan with the client.
2. Assists the client in developing a goal plan which may involve referring for legal services of a wide variety of community resources.
3. Facilitates support groups.
4. Provides telephone counseling.
5. Completes all required paper work.
6. Immediately report any suspected child abuse to Child Line and inform your supervisor.
7. Complete an Incident Report following established policy.
8. Undertake miscellaneous projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Residential Manager and Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. BA or an equivalent in related work
2. Ability to communicate clearly
3. Ability to maintain records
4. Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
5. FBI, Child Abuse and Criminal history clearances as required by law
6. Ability to plan, work independently, organize, make sound decisions, maintain confidentiality
7. Must have ability to work some variable hours
8. Must be willing to travel to a variety of sites
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time (hours as scheduled) or Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt
SALARY RANGE: Based on experience
