Job Description
1) Occupational Summary:
Under minimal supervision, the Engineering Supervisor is responsible for overall engineering project performance coordination with Engineering Manager, to execute certification, tooling, proto, and the design activities to ensure program success. Supervises completion of engineering projects of assigned department and team within the definitions of the airframe manufacturer and airline specifications, FAA regulations, SSUSA requirements and within engineering budget and schedules.
2) Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions):
A) Serves as a working team member on the projects in addition to supervisory duties.
B) Supervises personnel responsible for the completion and release of engineering documents, parts list and engineering drawings.
C) Coordinates the technical requirements of a project with the IPT and other teams as required.
D) Provides leadership to the engineering teams for the assigned projects
E) Responsible for total quality and on time output of the project team and designs.
F) Responsible for the project teams outputs to internal and external deliverables: NRE budget & expenditures, schedule, scope of work, product definition, recurring costs and weight targets
G) Responsible for controlling the project scope and avoiding scope creep.
H) Leads the project team in problem resolution and risk management.
I) Responsible for elevating risk thru Engineering Management.
J) Attends necessary meetings, e.g., Detail/PBS/Installation Design Reviews, Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR) and first article inspections (FAI). Coordinates and supervises completion of the required resolutions that result from these meetings.
K) Performs the following supervisory functions with oversight from the manager:
i) Performance Reviews
ii) Feedback, coaching, development
iii) PTO approval
iv) Ensures harmonious working environment. Exhibits Safran Leadership model behaviors and ensures team is exhibiting these behaviors as well.
L) Performs other duties as assigned.

3) Qualification Requirements:
A) Knowledge and Skills:
i) Intermediate design skills
ii) Proven problem solving skills using the 8D methodology
iii) Budget management
iv) Risk Management including dFMEA
v) Scope Management
vi) Proficient with MS Office
vii) Able to multi-task and manage numerous projects
viii) Must possess good planning and prioritizing skills.
ix) Lean Principles
x) Proven experience in leading multiple projects or process improvements is a plus. Experience developing and maintaining project plans, resource models, risk logs, issue logs, status reports, and other project-related assets.
xi) Strong leadership and relationship management skills including negotiation, conflict management, and managing multiple objectives is a plus.
xii) Strong sense of accountability and ownership; understanding the Project, Design, and Certification Engineer Roles as it pertains to the project team and working with minimal supervision.
B) Education and Experience:
i) Must have a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Material Science, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or related field, or 12 years equivalent combination of related experience and education in lieu of degree
ii) Plus requires minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering related field.

Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Ability to read and review written communication. Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

4) Physical Demands:
This position requires extended periods of sitting while working with computers and viewing computer monitors and other office equipment. Finger dexterity needed in using misc. office equipment such as telephone, computer and copy machine, etc. Bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to approximately twenty pounds are required during tasks related to the job.
