For over 20 years Saft has developed Energy Storage Solutions including the first battery in Alaska commissioned and connected back in 2003 and still in operation. Saft's ESS division was created a few year ago to strengthen the company's ability to serve the global energy storage market, support the transition to renewable energy. The division is growing fast with over 3 GWh of batteries in operation or commissioning worldwide, notable in the US, Europe countries, Australia and Taiwan.

Technical Leader reports to Enginering Manager and is in charge to ensure sucessful completion of ESS projects. During Project Execution, the technical leader is reponsible for reviewing and writing technical specifications, to ensure that the customer sepcification is aligned with the technical deliverables of Saft with our subcontractors.
The technical leader is also responsible for maintainging the list of engineering actions and the progress of technical deliverables throughout the duration of the project. The techncial leader will also provide support and alignment with the commissioning manager from the planning stages of the project through the final hadover to the customer.
The Technical Leader is expected to have experience in optimization of DC and AC coupled Battery Energy Storage System (ESS), System integration and ESS
controller design.

Your missions

  • Writes and contributes to project documentation, such as: the specification of sub-systems and the verification cross matrix.
  • Performs electrical system design validation by following best practices.
  • Develops high level design specifications, block diagrams, system interfaces, partition resources, compliance matrices, and uses technical and economic trade-offs to establish best system design.
  • Approves projects' technical documentation and contributes to system product configuration.
  • Evaluates BESS systems based on NFPA 855, UL9540, UL9540A, UL1973, UL1642, UL1741SA and/or other applicable codes and standards.
  • Defines project specific requirements based on customer's specifications.
  • Reviews and validates specifications, design, qualification and certification of BESS integration (Battery PCS/MVPS PMS) projects.
  • System level development of power systems with an emphasis of specifying the power conversion systems and plant management/SCADA systems.
  • Follows industry standards for integrating battery systems with power conversion and controls systems.
  • Defines and implements action plans to technically answer to the customers requirements
  • Provides support to the bid and proposal teams for technical questions that arise during the bid phase.
  • Provide feedback concerning projects in execution or completed to the bids and proposals team to better inform the bidding process.
  • Applies technical policies, best engineering practices, and lessons learned and shares them within the engineering team.
  • Interfaces project manager, application engineers, services, maintenance, industrialization, marketing, quality, purchasing stakeholders for the product design
  • Provides engineering support emphasizing safety and customer satisfaction
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Desired profile

  • Engineering Degree required

  • Experience: 8 years Systems and Electrical Engineering Experience

  • Specific Knowledge: Fluent in English. power systems, battery systems and controls knowledge

  • Business Understanding: Electricity / Power Generation / Energy Industry

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

  • Familiarity with eletrcial and power systems engineering, with battery system or power generation projects and with pertinient codes and standards.

  • Great decision making, Outstanding team work and collaboration with others.
