What are the responsibilities and job description for the Performers Programs Manager position at SAG-AFTRA Foundation?

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation is seeking an experienced Manager to create, curate, and execute in-person and virtual programs, including screenings, interviews, and panels, as well as digital content, images, video, and other documentation, to augment our educational programming and develop new ways to serve our membership and the broader public.

This role is an integral part of the Performers Programs team and will work collaboratively with other members of the programs team with additional support from the Communications and Operations teams to ensure our programs and online content are responsive to audience needs and trends, and that our production process is efficient and sustainable. The role also requires an imaginative, self-starting, self-reliant approach to programming and content creation

The successful candidate will produce a high volume of events/programs, while also finding new ways to communicate the concepts and lessons taught within our classes, workshops, seminars, and interview series, and create toolkits and regularly updated resources that are useful to actors at every stage of their careers.

The successful candidate will be passionate and knowledgeable about the entertainment industry and performing arts and will be hard-working, energetic, meticulous, tactful, reliable, and responsive to positive and negative feedback from the team.

This position is based in Los Angeles and is an in-person position. Due to the nature of the position, it will require frequent evening hours and weekend work.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Manages and executes all aspects of the performers programs including:
  • Ideation & research
  • Talent outreach & liaison
  • Scheduling
  • Creating, overseeing, and implementing run of show
  • Technical checks
  • Introduction and opening remarks
  • Close out of event
  • Admin and correspondence
  • Provide program data and statistics
  • Develop resource lists and digital resources for members to add to and augment our existing performers programs.
  • Conceptualize content for live program calendar and digital channels, including social media channels, website, YouTube, and podcasts.
  • Research subjects to identify experts, determine best practices and distill information for our audience of performers.
  • Collaborate with programming team to find and invite experts to contribute to content series.
  • Prep, capture and occasionally edit short videos.
  • Assign projects to video editing team and manage timelines for executions.
  • Create regular performance reports analyzing positive and negative results.
  • Work with our communications team to ensure content is appropriate, engaging, and responsive to audience trends.
  • Review archive footage to find relevant content.
  • Ensure that content is varied, original, and responsive to the needs of SAG-AFTRA members.

Required:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Exceptional writing ability
  • Experience programming or creating content for an arts non-profit
  • Experience turning complex topics and wide-ranging information into concise copy
  • Exceptional and creative organizational and record-keeping skills
  • Availability to work nights and weekend hours.
  • Awareness of social media best practices
  • Sophisticated understanding of digital media
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience using Airtable
  • Video editing experience
  • Interest in and passion for performing arts education
  • Deep Pop Culture and Film/TV Industry Knowledge and Interest
  • Basic Videography and Photography skills
  • Proven experience making data-driven decisions to inform content strategy
  • Understanding of brand cadence and guidelines
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.

Preferred

  • Experience working with A-list talent and high-profile personalities.
  • Understanding of user experience and digital presentational tools
  • Experience optimizing content for a variety of channels
  • Experience using Google/YouTube, Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook/Meta, TikTok Analytics
  • Back-end website experience
  • Graphic Design experience
  • Experience creating brand narratives via short-form content
  • Exceptional planning and organizational abilities
  • Professional writing experience for a company
  • Social Media community management experience
  • Experience running YouTube channel for a brand
  • Knowledge of basic HTML and SEO best practices
  • Understanding of short-form digital storytelling
  • Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders

Salary/Benefits:

$66,560 annual salary. Benefits include a 401K retirement plan; escalating vacation; paid sick, personal days, and holidays; and health benefits for employees including medical, dental, vision, flex spending accounts, employee assistance program, and life and long-term disability insurance.
