Due to our growth and success, we have created this new position for a staff accountant. This person will work under the leadership of the Controller and play a key role in our daily operations by performing a wide variety of accounting functions and serve as the Controller’s back up. The ideal candidate has an accounting degree, several years of general accounting experience, and excellent computer skills.  We are a small, fun, hard-working team but take life/work balance seriously. Our casual office across from Lake Minnetonka has plenty of free parking.

What you’ll do

• Assist in preparation of account reconciliation prior to month-end
• Responsible for month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance and balance sheet reconciliations

• Prepares JV financial reports, collections reports, and other compulsory reports
• Invoicing for our various services to clients
• Assist in processing accounts payable for our company and joint venture bills
• Daily tasks that include processing bank deposits, journal entries and bank reconciliations
• Assist in monthly analytics of prior year vs year to date financials
• Maintaining documentation for purchasing, treasury, and conducting internal audits.
• Recommend ways to reduce costs and enhance revenue
• Prepare documentation for external auditors and reviews
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need to have

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
• 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience
• Experience w/automated accounting systems helpful
• Advanced QuickBooks skills helpful and experience monitoring transactions performed by other departments
• Ability to work at our Excelsior office at least three days a week (some remote work is possible).
• Proficient in MS Office: Excel, Word, Office, etc.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the general ledger, , accounts payable, inter-company transactions, banking and month end close.
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks independently
