JOB SUMMARY:

The Assistant Director supports and assists with the implementation of Community-University initiatives between SVSU and the greater Great Lakes Bay Region. The Assistant Director works with the SVSU Office of Governmental and Community Affairs, SVSU Public Affairs Council, and various community stakeholders in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attend community meetings and events in the Great Lakes Bay Region and around Michigan on behalf Saginaw Valley State University.
• Plan and prepare for quarterly meetings of the SVSU-Cardinal Square District Community University Advisory Committee.
• Plan, prepare, and implement initiatives supporting Saginaw Valley State University in the Great Lakes Bay Region.
• Work collaboratively with the Executive Director of Governmental and Community Affairs on governmental issues which impact in Saginaw Valley State University.
• Support and assist with managing activities of the SVSU Public Affairs Council, SVSU Board of Fellows, Cardinals in the Community and Cardinal Perks programs.
• Support and assist with managing activities at the SVSU Riverfront Saginaw Center and other off-campus operations.
• Prepare and submit comprehensive proposals and plans of collaborative initiatives.
• Interface with elected and appointed public officials and their staff.
• All other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of Governmental and Community Affairs.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The Assistant Director reports to the Executive Director of Governmental and Community Affairs.

None

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Ability to plan effectively and work under multiple deadlines in a professional friendly manner.
• Ability to effectively work and communicate with external organization personnel.
• Possess strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
• Experience and ability to positively interact with diverse populations and groups.
• 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in field.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree preferred.
