We are currently seeking a candidate to work as a Vehicle Maintenance Specialist in the Huntsville, AL area with experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of foreign military vehicles and weapons system support equipment (gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment).
Responsibilities include:
Perform major repairs, such as engine overhaul, on foreign military vehicles, without the benefit of repair manuals, in support of foreign materiel exploitation (FME) programs.
Perform minor repairs, such as battery and tire maintenance, on foreign and domestic vehicles without the benefit of repair manuals.
Perform operator level maintenance on all domestic equipment to include but not limited to trailers, trucks, and forklifts.
Operate a wide variety of foreign vehicles without the benefit of English language training manuals.
Assist in the transportation of munitions and military assets (including handling and loading) to various facilities on Redstone Arsenal as well as military test sites and ranges across the United States.
Participate in major studies and develop procedures/plans and systems to provide logistical support to foreign materiel exploitation programs. This includes providing work direction and guidance to other team members in the preparation of logistical plans and projects.
Assist logistic analysts to negotiate schedules and lead times with the government customer and SAIC management for the safe transportation and handling of foreign equipment and hazardous materials.
Qualifications
Required:
HS diploma or equivalent plus 7 years’ experience or AA Degree and 5 year experience.
U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Secret security clearance within 3 months of hire.
Candidate must be able to obtain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance with SCI and pass a counter-intelligence (CI) polygraph within 2 years of hire date.
Experience in fleet repairs and maintenance to include semi-trucks and trailers.
Experience troubleshooting and performing maintenance on gasoline- and diesel-powered equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair vehicle air-brake systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor A/C problems on domestic vehicles.
Able to travel CONUS and OCONUS 20% of the time
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 100 lbs.)
Candidate must be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with HazMat endorsement and Doubles/Triples Trailer Endorsements within 45 days of employment.
Must meet minimum requirements for safe driving. Driving accident records will be requested upon hire along with any evidence that the candidate has violated laws governing the operation of motor vehicles including speeding, reckless driving, and operating while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Able to obtain safety certification in accordance with AMC-R350-4.
Desired:
Active TS/SCI clearance
Licensed or experienced in operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment
Ability to perform repairs and maintenance on diesel generators
Experience in the movement, deployment, or configuration of foreign weapon systems
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office products
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in high-pressure environment
Able to work independently and efficiently with deadlines
Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be able to clearly articulate and communicate via email and phone calls
Experience or knowledge of movement, storage, and maintenance of ammunition
Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
