Key Responsibilities include:
- Architect, plan, configure, deploy, maintain, and upgrade COTS/GOTS and custom toolsets:
- A Cyber Engineer is responsible for selecting, implementing, and managing various commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) or government off-the-shelf (GOTS) tools and custom toolsets to address vulnerabilities and enhance security controls.
- Ensure consistency with enterprise architecture security policies:
- The Cyber Engineer utilizes their expertise in enterprise IT and security solutions to design and develop solutions that align with the organization's security policies and support military cyberspace operations.
- Design and implement secure operating systems, networks, and applications:
- The engineer is involved in designing and testing secure IT systems, networks, and applications. They also manage security monitoring, tuning, and incident response processes, as well as handle digital forensics, loss prevention, and eDiscovery activities.
- Security control design and solution planning:
- The Cyber Engineer participates in designing security controls at various levels, including system, mission, and enterprise. They contribute to security-in-depth and defense-in-depth strategies and provide support functions for Identity and Access Management (IAM), Information System Security Officer (ISSO), and Information System Security Engineer (ISSE).
- Research and evaluate cyber capabilities and security tools:
- The engineer stays updated with the latest advancements in cybersecurity by researching and evaluating cyber capabilities, security tools, and products. They assess their suitability against operational requirements and introduce them to the enterprise in alignment with the IT security strategy.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve technical and non-technical issues:
- Cyber Engineers are responsible for identifying and resolving technical and non-technical issues related to security architectures, firewalls, network access, and electronic data traffic. They employ their problem-solving skills to address challenges effectively.
- Transformation into a more secure operating environment:
- At the leadership level, Cyber Engineers take on a senior technical staff role with the aim of transforming customer environments into a more secure operating environment. They work holistically to improve security measures and ensure the overall protection of systems and data.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelors in a related field with five or more years of cyber experience, or Masters with three or more years of cyber experience, or PhD with four or more years of experience.
- Strong knowledge of GRC processes, tools, and frameworks.
- Proficiency in threat modeling, risk assessment, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Non-expired cyber security professional certification: CISSP, Security , CCSP, or CISA (can be obtained on the job within 90 days of starting)
- A comprehensive background check is required to verify the credibility and suitability of candidates for cybersecurity positions, ensuring the protection of sensitive data and maintaining the highest standards of security.
