Join a winning team! SAIC's National Security and Space (NSS) Sector is currently hiring for a customer within the Intelligence Community (IC) in Chantilly, VA. The NSS Sector has an opening for a Senior Ground Architect to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) services to an IC customer. The customer organization we support provides the enterprise architecting, analysis, and systems engineering solutions that determine the current and future national space systems. The Ground Architect will work across the customer's enterprise for all internally developed and customer facing technology solutions.
The Senior Ground Architect will work with the sponsors lead on establishing a roadmap to execute operational systems, on prem environments and transition development spaces into operational networks.The role will heavily focus on synthesizing diverse architecture information to define system-of-system interfaces, functional and performance requirements, and design solutions to meet sponsor requirements. Prior experience establishing system architectures, ICDs, CONOPS, and conceptualizing them into a coordinated system of systems solving multiple mission needs is greatly desired.

- Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics
- Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development related to engineering of ground systems, antennas and communication pathways
- Responsible for the maintenance of the current and future architecture, and generation of all required architecture views
- Supports technical exchanges within the program offices and external to the office, to include senior level briefings to decision makers and other enterprise stakeholders.
- Creates, manages, and promotes the long - term architectural vision and business case for technology roadmaps across the organization
- Develops a unified architecture that is scalable across the organization and ensures the use of industry and enterprise technology standards and develops roadmaps incorporating industry best practices
- Serves as a key technical advisor to project teams, providing new research and novel approaches
- Analyzes systems and processes from end to end, partnering with IT, DevOps, and Security and business colleagues as appropriate
- Provides guidance and enterprise - wide influence leading to solutions that are well engineered, operable, maintainable, and delivered on schedule
- Focuses on the end-to-end processes supporting sponsor's ground architecture studies, meetings and managing programs related to software architecture
- Translates high level architecture development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated experience with modern architecture patterns (microservices, containerization, Kubernetes, Kafka, Lambda vs Kappa, Rest APIs, etc.)
- Demonstrated experience working with ground based architecture and communications both on-prem systems and on AWS Cloud
- Become a subject matter expert in several space systems architecture
- Support testing and readiness events to integrate new capabilities into the system.
- TS/SCI with Poly
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors and 17 years or more of related experience; Masters and 14 years or more experience; PhD and 12 years related experience
- Graduate Degree in Computer Science or related field of science or engineering
- Direct experience with and understanding of Aerospace customers and business
