What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Bartender position at Sailor?
Sailor is a new neighborhood bistro opening in Fort Greene, helmed by Chef April Bloomfield and Gabriel Stulman’s Happy Cooking Hospitality. We enjoy working with humans who are warm, welcoming and empathetic, detail-oriented, open to feedback, and enthusiastic about being part of a team that prioritizes quality service and mindful hospitality.
We are looking for a talented and experienced Head Bartender who has a deep knowledge of wine, spirits, and cocktails, and who can apply their creative energy to the leadership of Sailor’s bar program. The ideal candidate has organizational and communications prowess to match their creative chops. The Head Bartender will work closely with the leadership team to maintain an organized, cost-efficient, clean, and well-run bar. They will be asked to maintain the highest standards and own the role of primary communicator between the managers and bar team. We’re looking for a charismatic partner to help us realize a program of classics and originals with classic expressions.
Wine will be part of the daily conversation at Sailor. We'll be offering ongoing wine education, and we’d be well matched with a person who has a passion for it. Our interest is in opening great bottles for people - when we look across the dining room, we’d love to see wine being tipped into and out of every glass.
We’ll initially be open for dinner Wednesday-Sunday, with plans to expand into brunch and lunch. We have full- and part-time positions available, but all applicants should have weekday and weekend availability. A required (paid) pre-opening training will take place the week of August 28th.
