All of our full-time personnel are hired from our paid on-call staff. To apply to become a paid on-call firefighter in St. Anthony, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a valid Minnesota driver's license
  • Have earned a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be within an 11-minute driving time from our fire station

The hiring process itself consists of a background check, an oral interview, a written exam, a physical evaluation, and a psychological assessment. Officers of the Department conduct the oral interview.


Upon being hired, all candidates will undergo training consisting of firefighting skills, hazmat, EMS, driving, and operation of fire apparatus.
