To diagnose and treat patients of all groups, the MRI technologist must accurately perform all aspects of MR imaging in accordance with established procedures and policies, follow all regulatory guidelines, and adhere to MRI safety precautions. The technologist also upholds professional standards of conduct and ethics as outlined in the expectations of the department and professional organizations. The technologist contributes to total patient care by accessing pertinent patient information, processing images, ensuring correct images, accurate billing, and file documentation, and entering exam-related data into the department computer system. When not performing imaging-related tasks, the technologist undertakes other tasks to support clinical team members.
Education and Work Experience
- Licensure and fluoroscopy permits are required by the state.
- Effective July 1, 2017, appropriate national certifications in two modalities are required.
- Current BCLS (AHA).
- Must be familiar with state and federal regulations.
- One year of acute clinical radiography is preferred.
- Graduate of a program accredited by JRCERT or ABHES.
- Proficient computer skills.
