JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction the data scientist will provide geospatial data collection, mapping, and analytics support, configure WebGIS/GIS Server solutions, implement workflows, create and provision data content, collect data using GPS, UAVs, and other modern technologies, and provide GIS support to faculty and students within TGI partner institutions. This role may also participate in larger project teams providing support in the conception, construction, implementation and testing of GIS databases, applications, and production systems.
JOB DUTIES:
30% Conduct spatial analysis with location aware big data
20% Deploy webGIS services and online GIS applications
20% Use cloud services such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform to support computing
10% Spatial analysis
10% Social media data analysis
10% Provide support with various data visualization and analysis
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
GIS server design and implementation
WebGIS and spatial statistics
Cloud computing (Amazon SageMaker, GEE, Microsoft Azure)
imagery analysis
Experience writing production code in Python and scaling the code with cloud computing resources, e.g AWS
AI/ML
Geovisualization and modeling
GPS and UAV data collection
Social media data analysis
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree in one of the following areas: geospatial science, geography, or computer science and technology with strong open-source programming skills. Documented experience in open-source programming, machine learning, artificial intelligence, multi-sensor processing and fusion, visualization, remote sensing, and geospatial analysis are advantages.
