Job Description
Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City, MO is hiring for a Infant Hearing Screener.
The Opportunity:
Conducts automated hearing screening tests on newborn infants in the hospital setting and communicates results to patient families.
Evaluates and prioritizes infants to be screened prior to discharge from hospital based on established protocol.
Performs automated hearing screening tests on newborn infants.
Informs parents about testing prior to screening and answers questions.
Informs parents of results after screening, answers questions, provides written information about hearing loss and speech/language milestones.
Refers problem cases and questions to program coordinator as necessary and per established protocol.
Assists parents in scheduling appropriate follow-up appointments.
Documents screening test results and risk factors in EMR and newborn hearing screening log as indicated by screening protocol.
Follows established infection control procedures at all times.
Monitors equipment function, cleans equipment, troubleshoots equipment issues and reports unresolved issues to program coordinator or other assignees in a timely manner.
Utilizes appropriate newborn infant handling skills.
Monitors supply inventory and maintains adequate supply levels.
