If you are looking for an extremely rewarding career and want to build close relationships with a variety of wonderful and interesting people, you should consider working in Senior Care.  Saint Luke’s Bishop Spencer Place has a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Social Worker (or Social Service Designee) to serve seniors who are visiting our community for rehabilitation or other short-stay visits.

In this Social Worker (Social Service Designee) role, you will have a wide variety of interesting and challenging responsibilities to serve residents who are in the community’s skilled nursing center for rehabilitation.  Some of your specific responsibilities would include:

• Identifying and understanding the significant social and emotional factors underlying a resident’s illness
• Participating with the health care team to complete MDS’s and develop care plans
• Working with residents and their family members to understand and accept necessary treatment
• Communicating with insurance companies and obtaining treatment/stay authorizations
• Helping residents adjust to the temporary and permanent effect of illness
• Referring residents and family members to community resources when needed
• Evaluating residents for potential return to home or transfer to a more appropriate level of care
• Coordinating the resident discharge process

A successful candidate for this position should possess a Master’s degree in Social Work and be a Licensed MSW in the State of Missouri. We will also consider well-qualified candidates who have a related four-year degree to work in the capacity of a Social Service Designee.
