Position Summary: The Groundskeeper reports directly to the Groundskeeping Supervisor. This position is responsible for performing duties that will assist in the basic upkeep of campus grounds.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Groundskeeping Supervisor.
- Safe operation of equipment such as the small farm tractor, the lawn tractor, push mower, weed eater, edger, blower, hedge clippers, and a variety of hand tools which are used to maintain a neat and uniform appearance to all turf, trees, shrubs, flowers, bed, and all hard surfaces in and around the campus.
- Use all tools and equipment according to directions.
- Maintain and repair all the grounds keeping equipment as instructed.
- Mow grass.
- Blow walks and parking lots.
- Plant trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals as instructed.
- Edge walkways, curbs, and parking lots.
- Install and repair irrigation systems as needed.
- Wear all common protective or safety equipment, such as slip resistant shoes, steel toed boots, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection or hard hats as assigned for your position based on the training and instruction provided by your supervisor.
- Assist with the application of fertilizers, weed control, mulch, and bedding materials.
- Assist with cleaning the grounds from weather storms including the removal of snow and ice throughout the campus.
- Serve as part of the severe weather emergency team.
- All other duties as assigned or needed.
- Perform weekend and night responsibilities to support the life of the residential community and the academic program as required by your position or requested by your manager/supervisor.

- Be able to drive and operate various lawn equipment
- Must be able to lift and move objects up to 60 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions
Education, Training, and Experience:
Requires a high school diploma/G.E.D certificate and 2 years of horticulture experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
