POSITION MISSION STATEMENT
The Vice President of Community Impact is an integral part of the Executive Leadership team and serves as the leader of Grantmaking and Community Initiatives. The person in this role will support the VP across all disciplines, including the Community Impact Committee, the Grants team and general team support.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Community Impact team is the community knowledge hub of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation. Comprised of people with a wide range of personal and professional experiences, this team works closely with nonprofit organizations and leaders across Minnesota to strengthen local communities. The team manages grantmaking for the Foundation in addition to the F.R. Bigelow Foundation and Mardag Foundation and leads community initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Administrative and Project Management support for the Vice President of Community Impact
- Manage the Vice President's schedule, calendar, meeting planning, expenses, and travel logistics to maximize the Vice President's strategic priorities.
- Support the VP’s production needs by preparing and/or editing correspondence, memos, letters, and PowerPoint presentations.
- Create and maintain systems and procedures to ensure effective implementation of directives from VP.
- Manage a portfolio of projects on behalf of the Vice President of Community Impact including tracking budgets, deadlines, materials, and relationships.
Board and Committee Support and Coordination
- Provide service, logistical, and technical support for the Community Impact Committee and their respective meetings.
- Ensure timely and accurate production and distribution of meeting agendas and materials.
- Prepare and maintain all committee files and materials, including board member and committee contact information, agendas, minutes, and meeting materials.
Administrative and Program Support and Coordination
- Coordinate internal meeting schedules and planning, including Community Impact leadership team meetings and department meetings.
- Provide administrative support to the Community Impact team as directed. This may include scheduling, invoicing, travel booking, conference registrations and meeting logistics.
- Provide occasional backup administrative support.
- Demonstration of the Foundation's core organizational values in performing all duties.
Requirements
- Three or more years of experience supporting an executive leader.
- Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Adept at navigating database systems and relationship management systems.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Confidence embracing and using existing and new technologies.
- Strong editing and writing skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize a large and varied workload, managing multiple tasks and details simultaneously.
- Ability to show initiative, willingness to learn and take on responsibilities as a contributing team member.
- Experience working independently, proactively identifying or initiating ways to enhance a process, procedure or outcome that benefits the organization.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively and proactively interact, communicate, and collaborate on multidisciplinary teams and with people of diverse race, ethnicity, and national origin.
- Ability to anticipate challenges on behalf of the Vice President of Community Impact.
- Periodically represent and speak on behalf of the Vice President of Community Impact’s perspective in emails, phone, and meetings.
- Ability to communicate with a variety of audiences like corporate executives, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work onsite as defined by the Vice President of Community Impact.
- Highly reliable and accountable with strong boundaries and discretion with access to sensitive or confidential information.
Typical physical demands include:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time, either at home or onsite.
- Occasionally moving about inside the office to access filing cabinets, etc.
- Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The compensation for this position is $70,000.00 and includes participation in the organization's benefits plan.
Classification: Exempt; Full-time.
