Position Description – President of St. Vincent Academy
General Description The President of St. Vincent Academy is an experienced educator and a dynamic advocate of SVA who exemplifies the mission, vision and values of St. Vincent Academy and the charism of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth. General Responsibilities
● The President is the chief executive officer of the Academy and has general supervision over the activities and operation of the Academy, while reporting to the Board of Trustees and subject to the powers reserved to Seton Ministries.
● The President exercises general and active management of the business of the Academy and sees that all orders and resolutions of the Board of Trustees are carried into effect.
● As a member of the Board of Trustees and in partnership with the Principal, the President serves as a key leadership member and participant in making strategic decisions affecting St. Vincent Academy.
● The President signs, executes and acknowledges in the name of the Academy deeds, mortgages, bonds, contracts and other instruments authorized by the Board of Trustees, except in cases in which the signing and execution thereof is expressly delegated by the Board of Trustees or the Bylaws of St. Vincent Academy to some other officer or agent of the Academy.
● As a member of the Board of Trustees the President is also an ex-officio member of all Board committees.
● In partnership with the Principal, Development Director and Board of Trustees, the President is a key fundraiser responsible for expanding St. Vincent Academy’s funder base. ● The President helps forge new external relationships to build the Academy’s visibility, community outreach, enrollment, and financial resources.
● The President has supervisory responsibilities for the Principal, Development Director and for budgeting and accounting activities.
● Duties incident to the office of President include, without limitation, the preservation and fostering of the Catholic and Congregational identity of the Academy in a manner that ensures the Vincentian-Setonian spirituality and charism of the Congregation. Preferred Qualifications
● Advanced degree in Educational Leadership or related field
● Five (5) years of experience in Catholic secondary education
● Two (2) letters of recommendation A criminal background check is also required by law. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with applicant’s qualifications and experience.
