SAK Construction has an immediate opening for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team in O'Fallon, MO. This position is part of a team that is responsible for processing in-house payroll for 600 employees in compliance with applicable personnel policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state/federal regulations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills, strong organizational skills with attention to detail and thrives in a collaborative work environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a solid team.

This is an immediate full-time, non-exempt opening.

JOB DUTIES

  • Process Weekly payroll.
  • Maintain accurate employee records.
  • Maintain company level tables (earnings, deductions, liabilities, union classifications, etc.)
  • Routine time and payroll record audits
  • Weekly certified payroll reporting
  • Weekly internal labor reporting
  • Calculate and prepare layoff / termination checks
  • Complete VOE requests
  • Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
  • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting when necessary
  • Setup payroll tables within software for payroll processing
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to effectively, professionally, and diplomatically interface at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Self-motivated, hard-working, performance-driven
  • Exceptionally strong organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve and use technology to improve efficiency
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and union regulations
  • Able to assist with audits, reconciliations, and year-end processing.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 5 years payroll experience (multi-state, union, construction contractor preferred)
  • Experience with Vista by Viewpoint software a plus
