Battery Cathode Engineer
Sakuú Corp., an emerging battery technology company based in the San Jose, is developing high performance solid-state lithium ion batteries. The company is seeking an engineer, with an emphasis on cathode material and process technology. The selected candidate will play a key role in developing, formulating and testing of electrode materials for high performance solid-state lithium ion batteries.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Develop new cathode materials for solid-state batteries and select cathode materials for solid-state batteries
§ Perform crystal structure, microstructure, particle size, voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, cycle life testing, and reliability tests to understand, and improve the performance of the anode, cathode, and solid electrolyte materials.
§ Assemble lithium metal coin and pouch cells and conduct testing with a focus on repeatability
§ Electrochemical tests skills such current, voltage, CV, impedance, GITT
§ Knowledge and test skills of SEM, XRD, Particle size determination
§ Basic knowledge of safe handling of materials and general safety knowledge
§ Effectively communicate on DOE, results, document and present
§ Maintain general lab safety and daily work cleanliness
REQUIREMENTS:
§ BS or MS in materials science, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a related field with focus on electrochemistry, material science or related field.
§ Knowledge and understanding of lithium ion battery technologies including cathode material selection and synthesis, cell design, electrode fabrication, cell assembly, testing and failure mode analysis.
§ Prior hands-on experience with lithium-ion battery product development
§ Computer skills of testing coin and pouch cells
§ Knowledge of solid electrolyte material thermal processing and experience with solid state battery development is plus.
§ The candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and must be able to design and conduct complex experiments, employing DOE approach to interpret and correlate experimental results with battery product performance.
§ Desire to learn new experimental and analytical techniques.
§ Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work as a team player in a multi-functional environment.
