Salem Art Works (SAW) is an art residency and program nonprofit located in Salem, NY. We are looking for a Graphic Designer to join our team. Who would be the right fit for this job? A retired individual who is not quite ready to fully retire or would like to reenter the workforce part-time. An individual looking for flexible part-time work. An individual who has family obligations but has flexible time. But you are an individual who wants to make an impact on people’s lives! SAW is open year-round, but the main season is July, August, and early September. May, June, and October are shoulder program months. JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Graphic Designer will be responsible for the success of Salem Art Works’ graphics, website, brochures, social media, online marketing, video recording, and press releases.
The Graphic Designer is expected to be at SAW for staff meetings from November 1st to April 30th. From May 1st to October 31st, the GD is expected to be at SAW for the staff meeting day plus one additional day. All other hours work from home.

There may be an occasional weekend, weeknight event, or special event, which the GD may be required to attend to record the event.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Design:

• Brochure development, including estimates for printing and pricing for various programs.

• Document SAW programs and events, both video and photography.

• Provide updates and reports in weekly meetings.

• Plan, design, and execute layout and printing of SAW’s print and digital identity.

• Maintain SAW’s website on a regular basis.

• Complete larger overhauls of the SAW website when needed.

• Create advertisements appropriate for print and digital as needed.

• Maintain SAW’s brand identity.

Public Relations:

• Aggregate content for e-newsletter/blog for use on social media and website.

• Maintain in-house press list.

• Draft and submit press releases for all SAW programming.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• In-depth knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

• Experience with graphic design, DSLR photography, and video editing.

• Excellent writing and communication skills.

• Keen understanding of social media platforms and trends.

TERMS:

Wages & Compensation

• A bi-weekly salary of $680 based on 20 hours per week.

Benefits:

Use of SAW program facilities and grounds with approval by program directors and/or the SAW office or Executive Director at no charge. Staff covers the cost of consumables and personal supplies.

Meals during the resident season are prepared by professional chefs.

50% fee reduction for immediate family engaging in SAW programming.
